Even so, speculation is bound to increase as new reports emerge on the subject. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Russian club will send one of their directors to watch Fiorentina's match against Empoli, which kicks off today at 11:30 UK time.
Zenit's Henk Van Stee is expected to show up at the Stadio Castellani.
The report follows from rumours that Sousa had dinner with Zenit representatives this week.
