“We dropped a few points by the wayside too, but looking back over the defeat to Genoa, I did like the performance,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We made a few mistakes, but above all didn’t convert any of the many chances we created and we’ve got to learn from that in future games.

“Fiorentina have picked up only four points in their last six games, but they too deserved better results. This is a squad that has so much quality in attack and the sheer number of options means they can change system often, making them very unpredictable.

“The mentality of these two sides remains fairly similar, which is focusing on the quality of the football. The improvement of my lads over the course of the campaign has really been remarkable.”

Di Francesco has been tipped as a possible heir to Paulo Sousa on the Viola bench.

“I am focused only on Sassuolo. I say this with great honesty, I am relaxed and do what is best for Sassuolo.”

Nicola Sansone is included in the squad, but remains a major injury doubt, while Simone Missiroli, Luca Antei, Emanuele Terranova, Alessandro Gazzola and Karim Laribi miss out.
