Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said he was “almost moved” when seeing Mario Balotelli chase down an opponent, but “he must earn” his place.

The striker is on loan from Liverpool and has until May 21, the Coppa Italia Final against Juventus, to convince the club to buy him outright.

“We care for Mario, but he knows full well that he must earn his permanence here,” Galliani told Mediaset Premium.

“He is putting the effort in and when I saw him chasing Dodo down against Sampdoria, I was almost moved.”

Speaking ahead of this evening’s Serie A game with Carpi, Galliani was asked about reports ex-director Ariedo Braida will return to the club.

“We go back 40 years and spoke this morning too. Right now we are not talking about the transfer market. Ariedo is like a brother to me, as he was with me first at Monza and then Milan.”
