Eusebio Di Francesco confirmed Sassuolo are targeting the Europa League after a 3-1 win at Torino and explained his contract renewal.

The Neroverdi kept the pressure on Milan and moved away from Lazio with today’s impressive away victory.

“Lately we had dropped points by the wayside, but today we got back on track in a difficult venue,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The team proved it is in good shape, even if I had few options available to me today due to injuries. This gives us even more confidence and credit, even if I got really angry at the goal we conceded. It was our corner and they went on the counter, we were naïve.”

This week Di Francesco ignored interest from the likes of Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio by signing a new contract with Sassuolo until June 2019.

“I am convinced Sassuolo can grow a great deal. I made a choice and I signed for the club that wanted me. The club did everything to keep me here and I am happy to have stayed so we can improve ourselves together.”

Can Sassuolo or indeed any club replicate what Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City are achieving in the Premier League?

“I don’t want to say it’s impossible, but close. It’d be wonderful and we must all have hope. Ranieri has done an amazing job.”
