Lazio released a statement assuring reports of a Russian offer to buy the club were “totally false and just stock manipulation.”

Over the last few days rumours emerged of a Russian proposal to buy the Aquile from President Claudio Lotito.

“SS Lazio denounce the stories spread through the media – papers, radio and television – relative to presumed negotiations for the sale of the club as totally false,” read a statement.

“There have been no talks, no prices requested from hypothetical aspiring buyers or hypothetical groups interested in the club.

“These reports are totally unfounded and merely trying to shake the club’s status on the stock exchange in order to favour speculative manoeuvring and create uncertainty around the future of the club in a particularly delicate time when planning for next season.

“We have instructed our lawyers to act against these reports without the slightest foundation to protect this club and its shareholders, aiming to penalise those responsible for stock manipulation.”
