“Palermo played well against a tough side, using the right focus and attitude, but also good football,” Ballardini told Sky Sport Italia.

“Enzo Maresca is a rare player for his qualities and the way he understands the game, but we have others who are also capable, so I’d say the credit goes to everyone, including those who haven’t played as much.

“We need to keep going like this. Onwards and upwards.”

Palermo are still technically in the bottom three, as Carpi have a superior overall goal difference, their head-to-head record being even.
