The Argentine confirmed his quality yesterday as he scored his sixteenth goal of the season, in the team's 2-1 win over Empoli.

Icardi is one of the Nerazzurri's most highly-valued players and several European teams are considering a bid for the summer.

According to both the Daily Mirror and the Sunday People, West Ham are now in pole among the English teams to sign the 23-year-old.

The Hammers are believed to be willing to pay the player's buy-out clause of €35m and meet his wage demands.

This stands in contrast to other suitors such as Arsenal, who have not yet agreed to terms regarding Icardi's salary.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Inter will sell their star striker at all. President Erick Thohir's negotiations to sell 20 per cent of the club's shares are aimed at refinancing the Biscione. If successful, this new deal could make the sale of Icardi unnecessary.
