He was banned for one game and fined €1500, as the offence was considered especially serious for a team's captain.

Fellow Laziale Filip Djordjevic was also banned for one game, along with a lengthy list of players from various Serie A teams.

These include Bologna's Amadou Diawara and Marios Oikonomou, Empoli's Marcel Buchel, Fiorentina's Manuel Pasqual and Borja Valero, Genoa's Sebastian De Maio, Inter's Samir Handanovic and Ivan Perisic, Juventus' Alex Sandro, Napoli's Raul Albiol, Sassuolo's Domenico Berardi, Torino's Cesare Bovo and Giuseppe Vives, and Udinese's Zdravko Kuzmanovic.

Carpi stood out with no less than four players banned for the final game: Gaetano Letizia, Lorenzo Lollo, Fabrizio Poli and Simone Romagnoli.
