A telegram has emerged showing Sampdoria sacked Antonio Cassano after a furious locker room row with a club representative.

TeleNord published an image of the telegram sent by the club to FantAntonio following Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to local rivals Genoa.

“Dear Mr Cassano, considering the offensive and insulting comments made at the end of the Sampdoria v Genoa match inside the locker room, which were gravely damaging to the image of the club and its directorial staff, we confirm the immediate termination of the contract.”

It is reported Cassano had a furious row with lawyer Antonio Romei, the right-hand man to President Massimo Ferrero.

The 33-year-old is under contract until June 2017, so it remains to be seen whether this is confirmed or if the matter was resolved in-house.

It wouldn’t be the first time Cassano has argued his way out of a job, as he left Sampdoria the first time in January 2011 after insulting then-President Edoardo Garrone.

Meanwhile, Coach Vincenzo Montella also took to his personal website to deny reports he demanded director of sport Carlo Osti be sacked after the bitter criticism of Samp’s performance.

“I never even thought, let alone asked, to intervene in the directorial organisation of the club or to propose alternative candidates.

“I am disappointed to see all that has been reported and attributed to me. I confirm that I want to continue interpreting my role exclusively as a Coach.”
