The 28-man preliminary squad for Switzerland’s Euro 2016 campaign has been announced, as Stephan Lichtsteiner is the new captain.
 
They will face Albania, Romania and hosts France in this summer’s tournament.
 
There are some unusual decisions from Coach Vladimir Petkovic, as former captain Gokhan Inler is left out despite winning the Premier League title at Leicester City.

"I need to be consistent with my reasoning and actions. I had to make some tough decisions, but that's what a Coach is there for." 
 
Juventus full-back Lichtsteiner will now wear the captain’s armband, while other Serie A inclusions are Udinese’s Silvan Widmer and Genoa midfielder Blerim Dzemaili.
