Giampiero Ventura confirmed “the Federation is evaluating” the situation as he’s up for the Italy job.

The Torino boss is the hot favourite for the position after Euro 2016, but today FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio said there were four or five names being considered.

“The Federation is evaluating the situation and whoever gets the nod, I wish them luck,” Ventura told Sky Sport Italia.

“Torino started the situation with difficulties and extra pressure, but we revived the club and enthusiasm of the fans.

“We sent players like Angelo Ogbonna into the Nazionale, while this season Marco Benassi, Davide Zappacosta and Ciro Immobile went there and Andrea Belotti will be in there soon.

“Belotti was the best Italian striker in 2016. I had said it about Matteo Darmian, I said it about Immobile and now I say it about Belotti.

“Immobile knows what he has to do in order to become a protagonist. He’ll become an important player when he does things that are suited to him.

“If his characteristics are used to the full, then he’ll prove what he can do, as he did when he was Capocannoniere.”
