President Erick Thohir admits Inter will sell '1-2 players, though not necessarily the top ones'.

The Indonesian tycoon was at the opening of a new Inter store, and he stopped for a quick exchange with the Press, starting from the Biscione's upcoming deal with the Suning Group.

“It's a good thing to have strategic partners, just as I have one in [Massimo] Moratti,” Thohir told FcInterNews.it. “It's always done in the interests of Inter. Football is growing rapidly in Asia and there are many fans over there. It's one of the main businesses in Europe too.

“We could have partners in other countries as well, for instance in Japan. It doesn't really matter where, as long as Inter keeps getting greater.

“We didn't achieve a Champions League qualification but the team is growing. We believe in [Coach Roberto] Mancini. Our numbers look better than they did last year, and in most seasons 70 points would have been sufficient to qualify for the Champions League. Let's hope we can get back there soon.

“We're trying to develop not only in terms of our club management but also in our sports performance.”

Thohir was asked whether he would meet Mancini, who was absent from yesterday's summit.

“I don't think so. Our schedules are not compatible. We always discuss marketing and commercial aspects when I come to Milan, but we also had an in-depth exchange about the squad.

“We want to make sure it's competitive, not just in Italy but at a European level. We must keep in mind Financial Fair Play, just look at what happened to Galatasaray.

“We have some solid foundations to start from and our strategy is a good one.”

Thohir then discussed some of Inter's specific targets and potential departures.

“I think the players who join Inter must understand the project and what it means to respect the shirt and the colours. Players come and go, but wearing Inter's shirt isn't easy, and I want to take the opportunity to thank those who have done that so far,” he said, responding vaguely to a question about whether Manchester City's Yaya Toure would join the Nerazzurri.

“All of our players are important, [Samir] Handanovic, [Marcelo] Brozovic, Murillo no less than [Mauro] Icardi, [Gary] Medel, [Geoffrey] Kondogbia and Eder. I don't think we can change eight of our eleven starters, but maybe we can change one or two.

“We must balance out our signings and sales to meet the FFP parameters, but that doesn't mean we have to sell our top players,” once again not responding directly to a question of which 1-2 players could be the ones to depart.
