There are several Azzurri already guaranteed to be cut from the 30-man preliminary squad, specifically Davide Astori, Daniele Rugani, Marco Benassi and Davide Zappacosta.

This leaves another three for the chop and Eder is increasingly likely to be left behind, as although he played a key part in qualifying, he has scored just one Serie A goal since leaving Sampdoria for Inter in January.

Eder is expected to start against Scotland tomorrow, giving him one last chance to prove his form.

Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi impressed in training and are tipped to remain in the squad, but Napoli midfielder Jorginho will be dropped if De Rossi, Thiago Motta and Montolivo prove their fitness.

Giacomo Bonaventuta and Stefano Sturaro are also expected to miss out on Euro 2016.
