"I scored my first Italy goal here too, so Malta evidently brings me luck," he told Rai Sport.

"I am happy for the goal. As for the overall performance, I am not one who looks for excuses, but we lack sharpness after a lot of hard work in training. We can do better when it comes to the style of football.
"We want to be positive and when the sharpness comes, we have to be ready to make the most of it.
"The Coach always demands 100 per cent from us. We knew that we had to give more in the second half and were eager to get out there.
"We need to work really hard and try to express better football. We are working hard on a physical and tactical level over the last few days.
"We know what we want to do, but words don't count and we are putting in the work."
