President Silvio Berlusconi worries that the negotiations for the sale of Milan 'may take too long', whilst discussing the club's crisis.

The media tycoon has a meeting scheduled today that will reveal the identity of the Chinese buyers, and let him make up his mind on whether to definitively sell his club or not.

“Milan for me is a huge love, so I'd suffer a lot were I forced to detach from it,” he told Radio Radio.

“I too am worried that the negotiations may take too long. There are several big Chinese businesses that expressed a desire to be part of the property of Milan.

“They have an enormous revenue and the support of the state. They're the ones who are wondering what percentage [of the stakes] they should take.

“I want to clarify that whoever follows in my steps must formally agree to make the necessary investments to bring Milan back to the top of Italy, Europe and the world.

“We require the certainty that these gentlemen want to make of Milan a giant of world football.”

The president was then asked to account for Milan's crisis, as the team has failed to reach the top of the standings for years.

“I don't think the Coaches alone are to blame. Over the last four years I lost much of my peace of mind because I have been attacked extremely hard in a number of trials.

“We're talking about 73 trials and I spent whole afternoons with my lawyers to discuss the 3000 hearings.

“I certainly wasn't able to be close to Milan recently. Perhaps I was lacking the drive that came from the personal relationship I was able to set up with the players.

“The Milan that took to the pitch made me suffer, because I was sure they could give a lot more. In the last game against Juventus [the Coppa Italia final] the players understood how important it was, and we all saw the effects.

“Our squad is capable of doing much more than they did. From my side, I lacked the ability to be close to the team. Thanks to Milan, I have become the club president that won the most in the history of football.”
