According to El Mundo Deportivo, Coach Jose Mourinho expressly asked the Red Devils to make Pjanic their number one target.

They now join Juventus, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain among the clubs looking to pick up the 26-year-old.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that an internal meeting at Roma, held between sporting director Walter Sabatini and Coach Luciano Spalletti, confirmed the club's intention not to sell the player.

Manchester United will have to match the €38m buy-out clause, and get a green light from the player himself, if they wish to make Mourinho happy.

The Lupi could circumvent that problem by offering Pjanic a new contract and raising the price of the buy-out clause, but they are not going to do that as it would inevitably entail raising the player's wages substantially.
