Juventus target Javier Mascherano has reportedly been offered a new Barcelona contract earning €10m per year net.

The midfielder-cum-defender had been heavily linked with a move to Turin, where he’d follow in the footsteps of Barcelona teammate Dani Alves.

Unlike Alves, Mascherano does not have a clause in his contract allowing him to walk away for free.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blaugrana put a stop to any Juventus ideas by offering him a huge new deal.

The contract runs to June 2020 and would be worth €10m per year net.

That sum would make him the 10th highest paid player in the world.

If that were indeed to be the case, Juve would turn their focus back to Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic, who has a €38m release clause in his contract.
