Graziano Pellè got the last-gasp goal for Italy’s 2-0 win over Belgium. “For a striker it’s important to keep believing to the end.”

Emanuele Giaccherini opened the scoring in the first half, while the Southampton forward finished it with a volley in stoppages.

“I waited a bit too long to score, as I could’ve done it earlier, but for a striker it’s important to keep believing to the end. You never know when a pass will come your way,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Pellè had to undergo treatment on the touchline after injuring his finger.

“I hurt my finger when in a tussle with a defender, but the adrenaline made me forget the pain.”

Notoriously fiery Coach Antonio Conte was somewhat cross after a Belgium counter and was seen screaming ‘I will kill you!’ on the touchline.

“I think everyone knows Conte by now! He is a perfectionist and we try to make him happy. The first goal was a system we tried again and again in training, while we are able to keep calm and suffer under pressure during difficult moments.

“Belgium are a very strong side, but we are aware of our potential.”
