Panathinaikos assistant manager Roberto Muzzi confirms “we are in talks for Victor Ibarbo” with Roma.

The Colombian striker spent this season on loan at Watford and then Atletico Nacional.

“We are in talks for Ibarbo, despite the fact he didn’t do terribly well at Roma, I am convinced he can do very well with us,” Muzzi told Radio Centro Suono.

“We are also seeking a few youngsters from Serie A. We also tracked Seydou Doumbia, who impressed me at the start, but to be honest he’s fallen by the wayside over the past two years.”

Muzzi is assistant manager to Panathinaikos Coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

“Andrea and I will remain at Panathinaikos, as we have another two years on our contracts. However, there is a release clause if a big club makes a proposal.

“We are working on the transfer market and hope to become a big club on a European level too. The Pana stadium is wonderful and, despite what people say, Greek football is growing with many important players.

“The Pana fans are twinned with Roma ultras and always show the Giallorossi flag in the Curva.”
