Marco Parolo rued hitting the crossbar against Sweden, but explained Italy “changed the tempo” to get a victory.

“The important thing was to win today and hopefully my goal will arrive eventually,” the Lazio midfielder told Rai Sport.

“We struggled in the first half, as Sweden were aggressive and closing us down. We changed tempo after the restart and in the end deserved the victory.

“We have to keep going with the right mentality and work as a team, that is how the results arrive. We were solid, everyone sacrificed themselves for the team and we didn’t allow Sweden to get a single shot on goal.

“At half-time Antonio Conte told us we were too slow and not doing the things we had prepared. He was right, as time went on Sweden dropped in intensity and we emerged, fortunately scoring a great goal with Eder.”
