In a new twist, Real Madrid could opt to keep Alvaro Morata after buying him back from Juventus, not sell him on for a profit.

The Spaniards have a buy-back option worth €30m to secure the striker this summer after his two years in Turin.

Until now it had been assumed Real Madrid would then sell him to the Premier League – most likely Chelsea or Arsenal – for closer to €50m.

Instead, today’s edition of AS claims Zinedine Zidane is prepared to keep Morata in the Champions League winning squad.

Instead, today’s edition of AS claims Zinedine Zidane is prepared to keep Morata in the Champions League winning squad.

His performances at Euro 2016 have impressed, including last night’s brace in a 3-0 victory over Turkey.

As Karim Benzema continues to have difficulties off the field and injury concerns, Morata is increasingly considered a suitable starter at the Bernabeu.

The 23-year-old is set to earn €6m per season if he stays with Real Madrid.

It’s reported Morata’s arrival would facilitate Jese Rodriguez’s departure.

Morata told La Gazzetta dello Sport he'd be "sad to leave Juventus, but it's not up to me."
