Matteo Darmian warned Italy “want to win against Ireland and our greatest strength is there are no reserve players.”

The Azzurri beat Belgium and Sweden to secure top spot in Group E and a Round of 16 trip to Paris on June 27.

Although Wednesday’s result against the Republic of Ireland will be irrelevant, Darmian insists they won’t hold back.

“We want to win against Ireland,” the Manchester United full-back told uefa.com.

“They are a very physical side with characteristics similar to Sweden. We must be ready and try to interpret the game in the best way to bring home another three points.

“In my view our greatest strength is there are no reserve players. When called into action, everyone gives their all regardless.

“On the pitch we have seen the fruits of our labour, as nobody expected a start like this to Euro 2016.

“Obviously we need to continue this way and not let our guard down.”
