Alvaro Morata warns Italy are “the worst possible opponents” Spain could’ve been paired with in Euro 2016.

As the reigning champions lost 2-1 to Croatia, they finished runners-up in Group D and must face Group E winners Italy.

That Round of 16 tie is on Monday June 27 in Paris at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

“We could not have been given a worse draw,” Morata told Sky Sport Italia.

“Italy are tactically a very strong side and we must play the perfect match in order to qualify for the quarter-finals.”

Spain Coach Vicente Del Bosque was more optimistic than the former Juventus striker.

“To be champions we must beat everyone. We had the chance to get nine points and be in a much stronger position, but we’re here now and have to prepare for Italy,” said the tactician.
