Spain striker Nolito admits Round of 16 rivals Italy are 'a tough opponent', whilst Sergio Ramos looks to 'beat the best'.

Yesterday's surprise 2-1 victory by the Croatians condemned second-placed La Roja to an early clash of titans against the Azzurri.

“Nobody likes to lose,” Nolito admitted after the match. “It was a game where we were in control but they have scored the second goal. Now we go forward, we can’t be afraid, we’ll compete and see what happens.

“Nobody likes to lose,” Nolito admitted after the match. “It was a game where we were in control but they have scored the second goal. Now we go forward, we can’t be afraid, we’ll compete and see what happens.

“We’ve lost, we go forward, forget what happened. We’re in the next round, and you’re going to play strong opponents. We have to correct the mistakes and prepare for the game on Monday.

“These things happen. We won two games and everything was rosy, but nothing happens. We have to prepare for the game and see how it goes. Better to lose today than Monday.

“Italy are a tough opponent. It’s a tough draw. We have a good team and you have to compete with the best if you want to do something in the tournament.”

Sergio Ramos too was not intimidated by the prospect of playing Antonio Conte's men.

“Now we dance with those who are in principle the favourites, but to be the champions we have to beat the best. We have to move on and think already of our next opponent.”
