Leonel Vangioni can't wait to meet Vincenzo Montella at Milan and promises 'I'll work on my defensive phase'.
The Argentine was signed in February this year, under an agreement that would bring him to Italy only in the summer, when his contract with River Plate expired.
“I'm proud to be wearing Milan's colours and I'm ready for this great challenge,” Vangioni told Calciomercato.com, having finally arrived. “I hope with all of my heart that I can make the most of such an important opportunity.
“I'm an attacking full-back and in my career I played as a winger, but I like to defend too. I know how important the defensive phase is in Italy and I'll work on improving that.
“Paolo Maldini? He's a legend. I'm proud to be playing in his role. He was a great champion, while I still have everything to prove.
“Milan sought me out last year and I'm glad things worked out.”
The 29-year-old will have to impress his new Coach Montella, who will need all the help he can get to rebuild the shaking Rossoneri edifice.
“I still haven't met Montella but I spoke with many Argentines who had him as a Coach. I know he can get his teams to play well.
“I can't wait for tomorrow, I want to meet the whole group and integrate myself in the least time possible.
“Those who know me can tell you that I'm a lad who sacrifices himself a lot for the team. I can promise the fans that I'll be giving my utmost every time I'm asked to take part.”
