The preliminary matches to gain access to the most prestigious European club competition will take place in mid-August, and the former Zenit St Petersburg won't leave anything to chance.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Spalletti is imposing a brutal training schedule that will continue all the way until the beginning of the season.

The players will be asked to power up their legs in the gym and then keep a very high intensity during training with the ball. There will be double sessions every day with the exception of those when friendlies are played or when the team is on the move, but even then they will be required to go for a run.

Roma got together for their training yesterday, but still lack their international players. Daniele De Rossi, Alessandro Florenzi, Stephan El Shaarawy and Radja Nainggolan are taking a breather after Euro 2016, but they will return on July 23.

This training schedule could produce a team ready to kick off the season in an advanced state of fitness, but the Tuscan Coach has had numerous issues with injuries in his previous tenure at Roma and some believe these training regimes have something to do with that.
