Geoffrey Kondogbia promises he'll score more goals for Inter and reveals a parallel between Claudio Ranieri and Roberto Mancini.

The 23-year-old was coached by the author of the Leicester City miracle, back at the time when they were both working at Monaco.

“Ranieri always told me to be nastier in my sports performances, more aggressive when I went after the ball and grittier when attacking space,” Kondogbia recalled, in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 23-year-old was coached by the author of the Leicester City miracle, back at the time when they were both working at Monaco.

“Mancini tells me more or less the same things. He insists on the movements I must make when we have possession and when we don't. In brief, he asks me to do more, everywhere.

“I know he was the one who really wanted me here, which is why I'm trying to work as much as possible to improve my performances. I can't and I won't content myself with what I've done so far. I know I can still get better.

“It's always hard to promise something to the fans, because it's a long season with three competitions, and there are multiple variables. But I can say this: that we'll do everything we can to improve on last year's season, and that I will score more than one goal. In the last campaign I only scored once, against Torino.

“Ever Banega? I really look forward to knowing him and playing together. I saw many of his games and he's a great footballer. I'm always ready to take to the pitch next to people like him.”

Finally, the Frenchman was asked about the terror attacks in Paris, and the question of whether racism was on the rise in Europe.

“I felt so anxious and I thought it was never going to end. I got on the phone and called everyone. It was a tough blow for France and for the civilisation of the entire world.

“Yes, I've had the odd problem with racists, on the pitch and off it. But frankly it's been small, marginal episodes. We mustn't give them too much weight.”
