The former Italy Coach answered fan questions on the official Chelsea website.

“I had fantastic managers in my career, Lippi, Sacchi, Ancelotti, Trapattoni, Fascetti and Mazzone when I started out. Every one of them gave me something.

“It’s very important. The tactical ideas are mine, I developed these in offensive situations to study, but I maintain a lot of the teaching from these fantastic managers. I bring with me a little part of them.

“For me the most important thing is to transfer our passion to the fans. That is important. Before winning, we have to transfer our passion, the idea this team will fight to the end, play the game and enjoy themselves.

“Usually when you have these things, you can have a good result.”

Conte laughed when told that Carlo Ancelotti tended to shout at his players in Italian when he wanted to be particularly motivational.

“I think you can transfer passion in any moment, during a simple walk with the players. In training sessions it does sometimes happen that I speak in Italian and try to explain things in Italian. The players stop me and point out I’m talking in Italian, I’m sorry, but my passion makes me do that!

“I studied English all over Europe and over the 45 days my focus was on the Italy team, so I lost a bit of my English language. I’m continuing to study and I want to improve.”

This will be Conte’s first Premier League experience, where he joins Claudio Ranieri (Leicester City), Walter Mazzarri (Watford) and Francesco Guidolin (Swansea City).

“Football in England is growing a lot and you can see now in this League many fantastic players, good managers are coming in and I think this is the only League where six or seven teams are fighting for the title. That makes it very interesting, as you get suspense at the end.

“I’m very excited to be Chelsea manager. I am delighted, it’s wonderful for me and I want to give 110 per cent to give the fans the best satisfaction.

“I can promise I am here to work for Chelsea to change the strange situation, as last season was a strange situation. We have a bit of difficulty, but together we can get out of it.”
