Giacomo Bonaventura says Milan's target is a 'less troubled season' whilst looking to discuss his contract.

There are again high hopes for the Rossoneri as they go into the upcoming campaign with a new Coach, but the midfielder would be happy if the team just found some peace of mind.

“Our objective is to do better than in 2015-16 and to have a more pleasant, less troubled season,” he told Il Corriere dello Sport. “Of course I'd be happy with a Champions League qualification, just tell me where to sign for it!

“Our strength right now is that nobody considers us among the top three. These odds must anger us and spur us on.

“We must always play with the approach we showed in the Coppa Italia final, even when we're up against the small and medium teams that took away so many points from us last year.”

The 26-year-old's contract expires in 2019, but his strong performances last year could lead to a new deal.

“I'm waiting for the club's situation to be settled,” said Bonaventura, in reference to the pending sale of the club. “Then I'll have a chat with the directors.

“There's something to be settled, yes, and I'll listen to what they choose to tell me. I don't know what's going to happen because there are variables I can't account for now, but I'm happy at Milan.

“My dream is to win a trophy with this club. I came close to it with the Coppa Italia, and that defeat left me with a sense of bitterness.

“But now a new season is beginning and the team can do well. With some important signings, or if some of the current players explode, we can really have some fun.

“Having said that, this isn't the time to talk. The love of the fans must be regained with results, and that's what we're aiming for.”
