The Bianconeri were linked with the midfielder earlier this summer, and it has been suggested he could come in if Paul Pogba joins Manchester United.
However, the Blaugrana have shot down that idea, as his renewal was confirmed during Andre Gomes’ official presentation.

“Javier Mascherano will continue at FC Barcelona until 30 June 2019, as announced by Director of Professional Sports Albert Soler,” the Catalan club announced on their official website.
“The Argentine will therefore be extending his current deal by a further year with the club, which was due to end on 30 June 2018.”
