The Partenopei Coach has expressed his disappointment that the 28-year-old ‘did not even take five minutes’ to call and say goodbye before his move to Turin.

However, at a Press conference to present Higuain as a Juve player, the Argentine took the opportunity to express his gratitude to his former boss.

“It was my decision to stay calm and quiet, without thinking about anything and only thinking about my holiday with my family and friends,” Higuain explained.

“He [Sarri] was very important for me and helped me develop, I greet him warmly from here. I apologise, I only have words of thanks for him.”

Higuain added that he understood that Napoli fans would be angry by his decision to join their rivals.

“I stayed silent, now I can express myself. At Napoli I had three good years, I understand that they are angry with me.

“I have seen insults, but this is a decision I have made for my own reasons. I am happy to have made it. Now I’m thinking about Juve.”

Finally, the forward said he was looking forward to playing alongside another new Old Lady signing, Dani Alves.

“He is a great player, Alves. However, Juve have a great squad in general. They are a team and play with each other and for each other. That is one of the great aspects of Juventus’ strength.”
