As the transfer saga surrounding the move of Paul Pogba to Manchester United continues, a parallel set of rumours on the Bianconeri's prospective replacement for the Frenchman is also spreading.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve's primary target for the midfield is Witsel, who was sought after unsuccessfully by Roma and Napoli earlier this summer.

There is, however, a difference between offer and demand. While the Russians are willing to sell the Belgian, they won't negotiate for anything less than €25m, while the Italians want to spend a maximum of €18m.

In spite of this disagreement, Witsel remains the most likely option, especially as the main alternatives remain out of reach.

Chelsea's Matic, for instance, is an integral part of Antonio Conte's squad and is considered unsellable by his club. PSG's Matsuidi might be doable, but is vastly more expensive, coming with a price-tag of approximately €40m.
