The official explanation remains that Sonny Wu and his associates are simply wading through the bureaucratic morass that comes with transferring such a huge amount of money out of China.

In the meantime, Tuttosport reports that the broker formerly interested in buying Milan, Bee Taechaubol, is staging a surprising return on the scene.

Mr Bee looked set to pick up the Diavolo months ago, but the deal fell through.

Now he claims he has gathered the necessary funds, and is willing to step in and buy 48 per cent of Milan's shares if they can't find a deal with the Chinese.
