Bologna outcast Amadou Diawara might have to reconsider Aston Villa after Napoli and Roma talks stalled.

The teenage midfielder has been AWOL at pre-season training and wasn’t given a squad number in the list handed to the Lega Serie A yesterday.

He is determined to leave the Stadio Dall’Ara this summer and had his heart set on Roma.

The Giallorossi are ready to keep Leandro Paredes instead, so would not need to bring in Diawara, and are only prepared to offer him a loan with option to buy.

Napoli are on the verge of signing Marko Rog from Dinamo Zagreb, so he is not a priority for them either.

Now Sky Sport Italia suggest Diawara risks being left with no club this season and is therefore reconsidering the Aston Villa option.

It was reported last week that Villa had agreed a €17m transfer fee with Bologna, but the player rejected a move to the English Championship.

“I don’t like to talk about Diawara, as everyone knows the situation,” said Bologna Coach Roberto Donadoni.

“We’ll see what happens. If he was to return, he’d have to win back the trust and respect of everyone, but so far everything is just a hypothesis.”
