Instead, mere hours later, the defender wasn’t even in the squad list, fuelling reports of an imminent €25m transfer to Napoli.
“Yesterday Maksimovic did not turn up to training, without alerting anyone,” Mihajlovic told Sky Sport Italia this evening after a 4-1 victory.
“It was a serious lack of respect. This kind of incident will be difficult to repair. We’ll see what happens, but first of all he must apologise.”
There have been suggestions in the Italian Press that Torino would rather sell Maksimovic abroad, even for less money, than appease his desire to join Napoli.
