The Spaniard, who is currently one of Roma's primary targets on the market, was stretchered off last Saturday in the 2-1 friendly loss to Valencia.

Now the Gigliati have released a statement confirming an ankle injury, although thankfully the damage appears to be limited.

“In the afternoon Borja Valero underwent diagnostic tests that revealed an effect on the external collateral ligament of the right ankle, with no bone damage,” reads the statement on Fiorentina's website.

“The player will therefore continue the specific treatment for the recovery of the localised edema [blood swelling].”

No details have been published on the player's expected recovery time.
