Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri gave Kalidou Koulibaly some harsh advice, but implied he won’t be going to Chelsea.

The Senegal international defender has been the subject of a transfer soap opera all summer, as Chelsea still seem determined to offer over €50m.

“In (last week’s friendly at Hertha) Berlin, Koulibaly had 20 minutes with his full repertoire of dumb mistakes, but over the rest of pre-season he did well,” said Sarri in today’s Press conference, albeit using slightly more colourful language.

“He is extraordinary, but still has moments where he goes missing. The defence is a tricky area for us, especially as in January we’ll lose both Faouzi Ghoulam and Koulibaly for the Africa Cup of Nations.

“I think it’s ridiculous to have that tournament in January. If I were a club President, I’d take it to court.”

There were reports today that Lorenzo Tonelli’s knee injury is so bad he won’t even be included in the Napoli Serie A squad.

“Tonelli arrived with this problem that continues to afflict him. I don’t know what the situation is or how close he is to recovery, that is something for the medical staff to consider.”
