Multiple reports suggest the striker is ready to sign an extension that will run to June 2021.

His wages will increase to €4.5m plus bonuses for a total of around €5m per season.

There were suggestions it would include a release clause for €80m-€100m.

Sky Sport Italia claims the clause will eventually be closer to €110m, but it’ll have some very important limitations.

It will only be valid for clubs outside Serie A, therefore avoiding a similar situation to the one that saw Juventus poach Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli for his €90m clause.

The Icardi clause will also only be valid during certain dates, thereby giving Inter plenty of time to find a suitable replacement.
