Inter have dropped Stevan Jovetic, and Fiorentina are planning to pick him up for a homecoming.

The 26-year-old Montenegrin burst onto the football scene thanks to the Viola, before moving on to Manchester City and eventually being loaned to the Nerazzurri.

It seems increasingly likely that Jovetic will not remain in Milan this autumn. The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Coach Frank De Boer sat down with the player and explained he'd be using a 4-3-3 formation this season, which is not compatible with Jovetic's playing style.

The striker will not be fielded in the coming games, as playing him even once in this Serie A season would force Inter to pay the €14.5m buy-out clause as per their original deal with the Citizens.

Fiorentina are believed to be looking to take advantage of the situation, with TuttoMercatoWeb corroborating the Gazzetta's account of their interest.

Apparently the Gigliati are planning an all-out attack for Jovetic, in a solution that could be ideal for all parties involved.

The problem with the Montenegrin remains his salary, which is too high for Fiorentina, but sources are confident that an agreement can be found, perhaps as early as today.
