Besiktas new boy Caner Erkin says he hoped to succeed at Inter, “but Frank de Boer told me clearly that he didn’t want me”.

Inter were said to have beaten off competition from numerous sides when they landed Caner on a free transfer from Fenerbahce in June, but the left-back claims the Nerazzurri’s change of Coach forced him to leave after just three months and no competitive appearances.

“I had some [personal] objectives, that’s why I joined [Inter],” the Turkey international was quoted as saying by FCInter1908.it.

“I had some [personal] objectives, that’s why I joined [Inter],” the Turkey international was quoted as saying by FCInter1908.it.

“But then there was a change of Coach and De Boer, after a training session, took me to one side and told me clearly that he didn’t want me in the team. And I’m one who wants to play.

“There were several offers but the Besiktas wanted me the most, I could feel it.

“I’d already been to Besiktas at 14. I was there on trial for a week.

“The Besiktas fans are very warm and the team are always fighting for the title and want to do well in the Champions League.

“These are important things. My jersey? I’ll wear No 88.”
