Now his photograph has been removed from the Atletico Madrid website and squad list.

With most European transfer windows now shut, newspaper AS suggests the most likely options for the 29-year-old is a move to China or India.

Failing that, he could wait until January when Bologna could re-open the door.

Atletico Madrid may well propose a contract termination, as his current deal is set to expire in June 2017.
