Vincenzo Montella said Milan “could’ve done better” after new faces impressed in the 2-1 victory away to Bournemouth.

Suso and M’Baye Niang won the friendly on English soil this afternoon, but it was above all notable for the full debuts of Gianluca Lapadula, Mario Pasalic, Leonel Vangioni and Jose Ernesto Sosa.

“We improved the physical condition of those who hadn’t played for a while,” the Coach told Milan TV.

“We could’ve done better, but it was not easy. We’re helping get some settled in and improved in the second half, especially as in the opening 45 minutes we had players out of position. That was my choice to get everyone some playing time.”

Pasalic arrived on loan from Chelsea, while Sosa was a €7.5m signing from Besiktas.

“Pasalic certainly has great potential and did well, also considering he hasn’t been training for long. We’ll see if Sosa can play as a deep-lying midfielder, considering his qualities.

“The fact we had so many young players on the field is certainly positive, as it means our youth academy is doing well.”
