The Azzurri were never trailing in yesterday evening's World Cup qualifier, but they looked to be under considerable pressure after the red card awarded to Giorgio Chiellini.

“I think maybe we deserved a little more in this game,” said attacking midfielder Eran Zahavi. “We had a brave national team which took chances.

“The crowd was amazing and I believe they are proud of us. I am proud of the national team, we gave everything. We lost, but this is the way to continue, to take risks and hope for the best.”

“We had great momentum but unfortunately, it didn't work,” said Gent Defender Rami Gershon. “We are disappointed we couldn't equalize. I won't lie, I was very disappointed I didn't start, but I hope my chances will come.”

“There is a feeling of a missed opportunity because we got to several chances when it was 2-1 and we had several good minutes,” stated midfielder Roi Kahat.

“The Italian defense is famous in the world and of course in this game they played very well.”
