Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini called the capture of Euro 2016 winner Bruno Alves “the perfect negotiation.”

The 34-year-old defender was a free agent after his contract with Fenerbahce expired, but spent this summer winning Euro 2016 with Portugal.

“The perfect negotiation was with Bruno Alves,” confessed Giulini today.

“He doesn’t have an agent, so I simply agreed the terms personally with him in the Wembley locker room. Football would be a better sport if he could always negotiate like this, of course respecting the role of agents.

“We are happy with the transfer market we performed this summer, as we combined experienced players with impressive youngsters.

“We’d been tracking Panagiotis Tachtsidis for some time and he waited for us to the end.”
