The Coach is still paying for the Lega Proa play-offs against Pisa last season, which costed him four days off the football grounds as supporters of his former team Foggia threw objects onto the football pitch.

“It's exciting to play against Napoli,” De Zerbi told Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno. “I understand that Serie A is a top league and it won't but easy, but I know I've got the courage and the ideas required to do well.

“Unfortunately I don't have the time to taste this emotion. I'll admit that I can't take pleasure fully from my landing in Serie A.

“My suspension really burns. It compromises an historical moment in my life, but that's how it is. I must adapt and keep preparing the game in the best possible way.

“I told the lads that in order to play against Napoli we'd have to stay up and work even at night. The team we'll be up against is among the better organised, but I want to play with a clear mentality.”

Finally, the Coach discussed the Azzurri icon Hamsik.

“It'll be a pleasure to meet him, he's a complete player, a real champion. Things have changed, but he's still playing and he's at the forefront of the game. I, on the other hand, am coaching. It means I've already turned old.”
