Luis Alberto assures “it’s not a problem for me to replace Antonio Candreva” after being unveiled as a Lazio player on Friday.

Alberto has had something of a nomadic career for a 23-year-old as Lazio are his sixth club, but the attacking midfielder vowed his new team could rely on him to replace the goals and assists left behind by Inter-bound Candreva.

“I’m fine, I have to improve physically, but I haven’t trained with teammates lately so I don’t have the right shape for a championship like [Serie A], but I’ll try to earn myself the necessary confidence,” he began.

“I can play wherever the Coach wants me, I’m available. In the last [few] months, I’ve played all cross the top positions, but I usually tend to play more centrally.

“Candreva? He’s an excellent player and done so much for Lazio. I’ll do my best, play as I’m able to and try to register as many goals and assists as possible.

“It’s not a problem for me to replace Candreva. I also had to replace Juan Carlos Valeron at Deportivo.

“Probably my biggest difficulty [at Liverpool] was related to age. The level from which I came was well below the Premier League.

“I was surrounded by great players like Luis Suarez and Lucas Leiva, so it was difficult for me to find space in that environment.

“The adaptation was difficult, but training with those players made me learn many things.

“Iniesta [is my model]. I know Immobile well, he played at Sevilla. [Lazio] have a dynamic game and can find a good harmony.

“I hope that it’ll eventually allow us to score many goals and move up the table.”
