Palermo assistant manager Davide Possanzini felt the team “lacked courage” in a 3-0 defeat to Napoli.

The Rosanero were making their debut under new Coach Roberto De Zerbi, who was in the stands due to a touchline ban from his previous spell at Foggia.

“The team worked hard, but it’s difficult against Napoli, because the moment you lose that cohesion they can expose all your limitations,” Possanzini told Mediaset Premium.

“We lacked courage on the counter-attack, in going forward, in defending the ball with more determination. At the end of the day Napoli’s quality emerged, as we only did the bare minimum.

“It will take a while before we see the Palermo that Roberto wants. Tonight we saw a little bit, but the side lacked courage.

“We need to bring in the right mentality and intensity.”

Palermo picked up a 1-1 draw with Inter, but Coach Davide Ballardini resigned in protest at the lack of transfer activity.
