Marco Verratti is confident Mario Balotelli “will change and become one of the best strikers in the world” at Nice.

Balotelli scored a brace on his Nice debut over the weekend as the French side defeated Marseille 3-2 in Ligue 1, prompting his new Paris Saint-Germain rival to express a belief that he is finally about to realise his potential.

“I think Mario will change and understand that football isn’t only about the 90 minutes on the pitch but the whole week,” the midfielder is quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I think Mario will change and understand that football isn’t only about the 90 minutes on the pitch but the whole week,” the midfielder is quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I think at that point [of change], he’ll become one of the best four of five strikers in the world.

“I didn’t see the [Nice] game because I watched Pescara, the team of my life, against Inter.

“But I saw on my phone that Mario had scored after seven minutes. He’s a good player and a good guy.

“His problem, until now, was his mentality, but I think that’ll change.”
