Milan have lost two of their first three games under Vincenzo Montella this season, amidst continued Press coverage of a Chinese takeover, but Calabria – who is in line for an appearance against Sampdoria on Friday – insists the Rossoneri will improve in time.

“We’re beginning a journey with a new Coach, so it’ll take a bit of time, but we’re on the right track,” the full-back told Milan TV.

“[Udinese] were very tight and found a lucky goal, but I’m convinced that we can make amends as early as Friday.

“We had to be quicker in our movement. Playing against teams that are very tight is never easy.

“We had to be faster, so we must go back to imposing our game and work for [the win].

“[Sampdoria] are in a good form, but we hope they can do less well than in their last few games and I expect a great game from us to bring home the three points.

“We missed a bit of character and personality against Udinese, we got carried away by the rhythm of the game, but we shouldn’t feel sorry for ourselves, we’re only at the beginning of the season.

“[The Coppa final] is a defeat that still hurts, I thought we’d succeed in taking [the trophy] home because I saw Juventus in difficulty.

“Unfortunately we lost due to an incident. We had to be more clinical, but I hope to win it in the future.”
