Roberto Donadoni felt Bologna were caught out by Napoli “during our best period of the match” after a 3-1 defeat.

The Rossoblu had managed to equalise through a Simone Verdi scorcher, but Arek Milik came off the bench to bag a brace.

“The quality of the opponents has to be taken into account, though we could’ve done better on Milik’s two goals. I liked the approach from my team, as we had the first chance and never really ran many risks,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“After their goal we reacted well and got the game back on track. During our best period of the match, we were penalised for some errors. Considering the overall performance, I am relatively satisfied.

“Verdi is doing very well, he’s adapting to a new role for him and scored another great goal after last week. He still needs to learn how to control various moments of the game, but clearly missing a player like Mattia Destro and with Umar Sadiq who hasn’t trained yet, it limits our options in attack.

“We saw today with Napoli how important players coming off the bench can be. I already said last season that we need to have more self-belief, but there was already a more positive approach tonight.”
